What’s to discover?
Anything and everything about the Agua Hedionda Lagoon and related water, wildlife and environmental issues. The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center is a nature center dedicated to environmental education and outreach. We are located on the eastern end of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon estuary and wetland area in Carlsbad. The 3800 square foot building was completed in October 2004 and began hosting public programs and outreach activities in 2005. Owned and operated by the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, the Discovery Center houses exhibits and displays which pertain to historical and environmental aspects of the Lagoon. In addition, the Discovery Center hosts numerous festivals, lectures, seminars and programs throughout the year.
AHLF Discovery Center Hours
Regular Hours of Operation:
Monday through Saturday 7am - 4PM (unless otherwise noted in calendar)
Sunday Noon - 4PM (unless otherwise noted in calendar)
Girl Scout/Boy Scout tours are available by appointment only. $5.00 per child, $8.00 if you would like to include a fun craft with your tour!
($5 suggested donation for prospective members)
Group tours are available by appointment, a nominal $5.00 fee will be charged per person, payment is required one week prior to scheduled tour.
* fee will be waived for members at steward level or higher.

**During School Program hours, the Discovery Center is open with limited access to Trail, Bathrooms and Coffee Cart only (check our website calendar for these dates)**

Directions:
We are located at 1580 Cannon Road at the corner of Cannon Road and Faraday.
From the I-5, take the Cannon Road exit and turn east. Go approximately 1.3 miles and turn left at Faraday into our parking lot.
